The People’s Food Co-op of Ann Arbor (PFC) has been nourishing our community for 50 years. Our co-op has a deep historical legacy and strong support among its existing consumer base. But as the market and food environment has changed over time, we’re looking for a GM who is a change agent; someone who can sustain and grow our core business while leading the co-op into the future, evolving our operations with the changing needs of our customers. The ideal candidate will have strong practical grocery operations skills as well as an innovative spirit and enthusiasm for experimentation.
Essential Responsibilities:
- The General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the co-op, as well as for long term planning and sustainability, culture, and community relations.
Qualified Candidates will have:
- Significant retail food management experience, including annual sales volume $2M+.
- Strategic thinking and change management skills, including ability to recognize growth opportunities and ability to align operations with vision.
- Ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, and advance a collaborative, values-driven culture, alongside a track record of assuring accountability.
- Enthusiasm for the co-op model and personal and professional values that align with cooperative principles.
This position reports to the Board of Directors and has an associated annual salary of $75,000. Other benefits include IRA, health insurance, paid time off, and store discount. The People’s Food Co-op operates under Policy Governance and is a member of National Cooperative Grocers.
