{"id":3836,"date":"2015-07-24T17:01:37","date_gmt":"2015-07-24T21:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peoplesfood.coop\/?p=3836"},"modified":"2019-05-28T16:53:54","modified_gmt":"2019-05-28T20:53:54","slug":"curried-wheatberries-with-blueberries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peoplesfood.coop\/newsite\/2015\/07\/24\/curried-wheatberries-with-blueberries\/","title":{"rendered":"Curried Wheatberries with Blueberries"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Ingredients<\/h3>\n<div class=\"ingredients-inner\">\n<ul class=\"ingredient\">\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 1\/2 cups <span class=\"name\">hard wheat berries, rinsed and picked over<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 teaspoons <span class=\"name\">ground turmeric<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 teaspoons <span class=\"name\">salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cups <span class=\"name\">fresh lemon juice<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 cloves <span class=\"name\">garlic, finely minced<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 teaspoon <span class=\"name\">fresh grated ginger root<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">4 teaspoons <span class=\"name\">gram masala or curry powder<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 1\/2 teaspoons <span class=\"name\">(to garnish, if desired)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3\/4 cups <span class=\"name\">canola oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 cups <span class=\"name\">cilantro, coarsely chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 cups <span class=\"name\">Blueberries<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 cups <span class=\"name\">almonds, toasted (optional)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 <span class=\"name\">scallions, white and green parts, thinly sliced on the diagonal<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cups <span class=\"name\">mint, coarsely chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\"><span class=\"name\">Ground black pepper to taste<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Preparation<\/h3>\n<p>Combine wheat berries, turmeric, salt and enough water to cover by 2-inches in a large pot. Bring to a boil over high heat, reduce to a simmer and cook uncovered for 55 to 65 minutes or until the wheat berries are tender. Drain and let cool slightly.<\/p>\n<p>While the wheat berries are cooking, make the curry vinaigrette. Combine lemon juice, garlic, ginger and garam masala in a nonreactive bowl. Slowly whisk in oil and add cilantro.<\/p>\n<p>To assemble salad, stir in enough vinaigrette to moisten the warm wheat berries.
